Zombie Science More Icons of Evolution 1 Jonathan Wells

In 2000, biologist Jonathan Wells took the science world by storm with Icons of Evolution, a book showing how biology textbooks routinely promote Darwinism using bogus evidence—icons of evolution like Ernst Haeckel’s faked embryo drawings and peppered moths glued to tree trunks. Critics of the book complained that Wells had merely gathered up a handful of innocent textbook errors and blown them out of proportion. Now, in Zombie Science, Wells asks a simple question If the icons of evolution were just innocent textbook errors, why do so many of them still persist? Science has enriched our lives and led to countless discoveries. But now, Wells argues, it’s being corrupted. Empirical science is devolving into zombie science, shuffling along unfazed by opposing evidence. Discredited icons of evolution rise from the dead while more icons—equally bogus—join their ranks. Like a B horror movie, they just keep coming! Zombies are make believe, but zombie science is real—and it threatens not just science, but our whole culture. Is there a solution? Wells is sure of it, and points the way.

Zombie Science More Icons of Evolution 1 Jonathan Wells Reviews
Great read. Good, clear examples in an engaging styple
Read with an open mind. I am not a scientist but I can ascertain truth from fiction. There is much truth in this book.
great book, fun read!
This is a great follow-up to Wells's book *Icons of Evolution*. It follows up the previous icons and states if they have been removed from recent Biology textbooks. All too often they have not, which gives weight to the thesis that the textbooks writers are not so much concerned about truth but rather about propaganda for Neo-Darwinism.
New icons are also added, and the explanations are magnificent. I give this book only 4 stars because some of the "Zombie Science" items (icons) are not yet widely recognized as being false or greatly exaggerated. Wells does a good job of giving evidence against these ideas but fails to show that they now deserve to be called Zombie Science. Too many people will claim that Wells cherry-picks the evidence against their pet claims and ignores the positive evidence. I suppose we could call these ideas mostly dead rather than completely dead and zombified.
I still highly recommend this book. I will offer it to my students for their research paper on evolution, since it does a good job of bringing real evidence to bear in a concise and well-written manner.
I have read many books on intelligent design and I am very disappointed when The Bible or religion gets mixed up with the science. Dr. Wells stays on track.
Beyond that he dismantles brick-by-brick the icons of evolution. The argument is so well presented and documented that anyone with a truly open mind will be persuaded to consider ID.
Some of the quotes (and there are hundreds) blew my mind. Materialists saying “We cant let God get a foot in the door..)! WOW there really is an ideological war going on.
Dr. Wells itemizes various popular "icons of evolution" that have been disproved (most for decades, one for a century) and yet continue to be published in high school and college textbooks as evidence of Evolution. He does not promote Creation, just exposes the textbook fraud continued with taxpayer dollars. This is his second book on the subject, following the highly successful Icons of Evolution, by over 15 years.
A person unable to take the complexities they claim knowledge of and place them into terms that even an average person can understand, they likely do not know what they claim to... Such is NOT the case with this author, this book. It is fun to read as it is enlightening with none of the idiocy and arrogance many in the field push and pander...
